a chocolatey liquor affogato inspired by Dead End (2003)

Dead End is the 2003 psychological holiday horror that rides along with the Harrington family as they are on the way to their grandmother’s house for Christmas. Along with them is the daughter’s, Marion, boyfriend. After the father, Frank, almost crashes the car by falling alseep at the wheel, strange occurances seem to keep happening along the desolate road on which they’ve ended up.

The family argues, confesses long kept secrets, throws out presents, and eats all the pumpkin chocolate pie that inspired this drink while trying to figure out where they are and how to get back to he main road. It’s filled with with camp, gore, and the pure insanity brought about by being forced to socialize with family during the “most wonderful time of the year”

As mentioned, an entire pie is stress eaten by the mother, Laura, who is played by Lin Shaye. The pie looks less than appetizing and the fact in which she consumes it is even less than less appetizing, being smeared all over her hands and face. To keep the messiness of the pie in this drink, I decided to make it an ice cream based affogato! Boozy and cold, much like Frank! Recipe makes one! This drink is featured in the Dead End session of my podcast, Dank & Deadly! Be sure to tune in wherever you stream your podcasts!

YOU’LL NEED

  • 1 oz Pinnacle Chocolate Whipped Vodka
  • 1 oz dark creme de cacao
  • 1 oz Mozart Chocolate Cream liquor
  • 1- 2 scoops chocolate ice cream

  • shake for 10 seconds

NOTES

~ you can blend with ice for frappe style — that’s actually the traditonal “Hammer Horror” that influenced this drink

~ feel free to take one of the liquors away and sub for heavy cream or half & half for less alchol
