Us is the 2019 horror thriller by esteemed director in horror and comedy Jordan Peele. The film follows The Wilson family as they return to Santa Cruz beach and boardwalk years after the mother, Addy, has a traumatic experience there while lost in a storm. After a series of odd occurrences, Addy’s paranoia is confirmed when strangers dressed all in red break into their home and happen to look exactly like the Wilson family.

The film tackles many important themes from capitalism, privilege, family bond, and more, while also playing into several urban legends and conspiracy theories. Us can be further and further dissected with each viewing. Visually stunning, suspenseful, and carrying some pretty harsh kills in the name of survival, Us calls our society out using some of our deepest, American fears. Lupita Nyong’o, Wilson Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Evan Alex portray the Wilsons and (who come to find out are called) their “tethered”, fantastically by giving unique personalities and life to each character.

Elizabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker’s beachy alcoholism of rich white existence oozing through the Tyler’s have a hand in inspiring this shot. From calling rosé “medicine” to assigning any random time “vodka o’clock”, these two clearly will have a drink and flaunt what’s theirs. Materialism everntually becomes their downfall as seen in, arguably, the most refrenced scene from this film. Their drinking, Addy’s strawberries (the only food she seems to eat), and the ghosts of our individual pasts and society’s inspired this triple spiked twisted set of shots. Recipe makes two 1oz shots (there will be excess).

YOU’LL NEED

• Ole Smokey White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Moonshine
• Whipped vodka
• Strawberry vodka
• Grenadine
• Heavy cream
• twisted shot glasses
• cocktail shaker/s/ + ice (used two shakers to make it easier but obv you can use the same one and rinse between sides)

TO MAKE

White side

• add 1oz White Chocolate Stawberry Cream Moonshine, 1/2oz whipped vodka, 1/2oz strawberry vodka, & splash of heavy cream to shaker
• add ice
• seal & shake for 10 seconds
• pour into one side of twisted shot glass
• add a drop of grenadine to the middle of that side

(if you are using one shaker, rinse thoroughly as not to cross contaminate cream or color)

Red side

• add 1oz stawberry vodka & 1oz grenadine to shaker
• add ice
• seal & shake for 10 seconds
• pour into other side of twisted shot glass
