Witches are synonymous with Halloween and extremely prominent through the horror genre as a whole. Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost is my go to fall film. We just had two new witches introduced through Fear Street and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Hocus Pocus plays on, truly, almost every station during Halloween. The Beldam of Coraline. The covens of American Horror Story and The Craft. Sabrina the Teenage Witch and her current revamp as The Chilling Adventures. Even Tia Dalma from Pirates of the Caribbean is an iconic witch who desevered much better.

The stories of witches are so engrained in horror, probably, because of the sordid manner in which (alleged) witches were treated. Sexism, racism, religion, homophobia, and finding any difference to villainze another person over were much of the basis for many women and black people being accused of witchcraft, tortured, and often murdered. This history absolutely contributes to the way witches have been percieved in media for decades, and certainly a major factor in why we have a lot of modern positive, diverse, and deeper explored portrayals of witches today! So this cocktail is an homage to them; the fictional and historical witches from all cultures whos blood was shed and whos sacrifices, knowledge, and practices allow the magicks of the world to continue to thrive!

Witch’s Blood is short and strong and can be used in any of your Halloween rituals! Recipe makes one 4oz potion!
